DIY Tire Planter
An Easy Weekend Project for Any Homeowner
What better way to give an old tire new life than by planting some budding beauties in it! This DIY tire planter is sure to add a pop of personality to your porch or garden. Not to mention they’re super simple (and fun
) to make!
What You’ll Need:
- Used Tire
- Can of Spray Paint
- Potting Soil
- Power Drill
- Rope or Hooks
Find an old tire and drill drainage holes in the bottom.
This step is very important! The holes will allow water and soil to drain freely and ensure that enough air is available for the roots.
Wash and spray paint the tire.
Pick a color that will look nice with your existing landscape and décor and then spray paint the tire. Leave the newly-painted tire out to dry for a while before continuing. Apply a second coat it needed.
Grab a paint brush and get creative! You can try something simple like adding polka-dots, or go all out making the tire look like a lady bug or donut. The creative possibilities with this project are truly endless.
Go to your local nursery and pick out some matching flowers and potting mix. Plant flowers as normal.
Hang for display!
Depending where you want to hang your creation, you will need either rope or hooks. Large hooks will work best if you are hanging the planter on an outdoor wall. If you want to hang your tire from a tree, rope would work best.
